This RIDGLOK® Vertical Standing Seam Panel Insulation System was installed at Fort Bragg, NC on two Concrete Thermal Energy Storage (TES or chilled water) ground storage tanks for Crom Corp, located in Fort Bragg, NC. The storage tanks were utilized to hold chilled water for Thermal Energy Storage Tanks for the military base located at Fort Bragg, NC.
Tank Sizes: 1st tank was a 78′ diameter x 71′ high concrete storage tank. The 2nd tank was a 54.1′ diameter x 71′ high concrete storage tank. The project was completed on April 14, 2014.
The RIDGLOK® Insulated Panel System consisted of 0.024 stucco-embossed aluminum metal jacketing, in fawn, laminated to 2.0” of polyisocyanurate insulation board. R-value of 13.1, only installed on the shell of the storage tanks.
Thermal Energy Storage Tanks require insulation systems to LOWER utility costs by reducing energy consumption. As these tanks are designed to cool the water by mechanical chillers using lower cost off –peak energy demand, the chilled water is distributed through the facility during peak energy demand. RIDGLOK® Insulation will PREVENT heat gain to benefit the Thermal Energy Storage Tank. Chilled water is produced during periods of off-peak electrical demand when rates are lower, and the water is collected in a thermal energy storage (TES) tank. The chilled water is then withdrawn and distributed throughout the facility during peak demand hours. This process lowers energy costs by reducing the power consumption. Insulating the TES tank further increases energy savings by retaining the chilled temperatures within the tank.
