Champion Pet Foods mission is clear and strong: they make biologically appropriate dog and cat foods from fresh regional ingredients. They represent a new class of foods designed to nourish dogs and cats in keeping with their evolutionary adaptation to fresh meat and protein-rich diets.

The company’s new facility included a Fire Prevention Water Storage Tank that required insulation to prevent freezing in the hard winter months.

This RIDGLOK® Vertical Standing Seam Panel Insulation System was installed on the groundwater storage tank for Champion Pet Foods located in Auburn, KY, in September 2015. The welded tank was utilized to store water for fire protection on the site.

The tank was a 45.6’ diameter x 31.9’ in height, welded tank.

The RIDGLOK® Insulated Panel System consisted of 0.024 stucco-embossed aluminum metal jacketing in grey laminated to 1.5” polyisocyanurate insulation board with an R-value of 9.6 using a straight design roof system.

The RIDGLOK® Vertical Standing Seam Panel Insulation system is used for freeze protection in fire protection tanks. The panels can be applied to all types of tanks, including flat bolted, chimed bolted, glass-lined, fiberglass, welded, stainless steel, and concrete. The tank does not need to be taken out of service to install the system. Insulating fire protection tanks with RIDGLOK® Vertical Standing Seam Insulation provides energy savings by reducing the amount of electricity needed to heat the tank.

The customer was satisfied with the completed project and said that the “work looks great” and that RIDGLOK® was “good looking material.”
