This RIDGLOK® Vertical Standing Seam Panel Insulation System was manufactured at our facility in Reed, KY for installation on a storage tank used for fire protection at a data center.
The data centers newly constructed fire protection tank stood 33.25’ high and had a diameter of 36.95”. The fire water storage tank required insulation to prevent freezing in the event of extreme temperatures. The RIDGLOK® Vertical Standing Seam Panel Insulation System was a perfect fit because it will not only be effective in providing freeze protection for the fire service water but it is also appealing to the eye. The customer chose a custom Gray color for the panel system which was manufactured with 2.0” of Polyisocyanurate insulation board.
MC&I completed the project installation ON TIME and despite challenges such as: unforeseen site training requirements, 6” of snow fall, and cold temperatures, the work was completed in less than 12 days.
Upon completion, the site superintendent stated that the job was completed satisfactorily and that he would recommend both MC&I and RIDGLOK® to others. He further stated that “Crew did an excellent job. Nice, neat craftsmanship, finished task with vigilance.”
The project manager for the tank manufacturer stated that “communication was excellent throughout this project making procurement and mobilization a non-issue. MC&I was also very helpful in working with us and the end customer during installation to resolve unexpected challenges that occurred on-site. Over all this was a smooth project and a job well done.”
The RIDGLOK® Vertical Standing Seam Panel Insulation system is used for freeze protection in fire protection tanks. The panels can be applied to all types of tanks, including flat bolted, chimed bolted, glass lined, fiberglass, welded, stainless steel and concrete. The tank does not need to be taken out of service to install the system. Insulating fire protection tanks with RIDGLOK® Vertical Standing Seam Insulation provides energy savings by reducing the amount of electricity needed to heat the tank.
RIDGLOK® Insulation Systems are utilized for freeze protection on fire water supply for wet sprinkler systems. Fire protection water storage tanks that are in colder regions are required to have tank heaters and permitted to be insulated to CONSERVE energy per NFPA 22 codes section 16.1-16.5.
