MC&I designed, manufactured and installed the RIDGLOK® Vertical Standing Seam Insulated Panel System on a fire protection ground storage tank, located in Crawfordsville, IN.
The fire protection storage tank was a 21.54′ diameter x 30′ high chimed bolted tank. The tank insulation project was completed in January, 2011.
The RIDGLOK® Vertical Standing Seam Insulated Panel System consisted of 0.024 stucco-embossed aluminum metal jacketing, in Fawn color, laminated to 3″ on the shell and 2″ on the roof of polyisocyanurate insulation board (R-value of 20.3 on the shell and R-value of 13.1 on the roof), using a straight pan roof system. The enclosure from the pump house to the storage tank was also insulated.
The RIDGLOK® Vertical Standing Seam Insulated Panel System is used for freeze protection in fire protection storage tanks. The panels can be applied to all types of tanks, including flat bolted, chimed bolted, glass lined, fiberglass, welded, stainless steel and concrete. The storage tank does not need to be taken out of service to install the insulation system. Insulating fire protection tanks with RIDGLOK® Vertical Standing Seam Insulated Panel System provides energy savings by reducing the amount of electricity needed to heat the tank.
