The client, ICL Performance Products, required new insulation on Sulphur tank located and their Lawrence, KS facility. These tanks were used for storing Sulphur at an acid plant. The contents were to be kept at 400° F.
Installing the new RIDGLOK® Vertical Standing Seam Insulation Panel System on the tank will help to maintain a consistent operating temperature thus reducing the costs for maintenance. The system could be installed without taking the tank out of service however; the facility already had the tanks shut down for maintenance and reconstruction.
Our crew completed the safety orientation for the jobsite and began work on the project June 22, 2015. Despite the high temperatures, humidity over 85%, and a congested work area, the crew was able to complete the project July 1st, 2015 on schedule. Upon completion, the customer was satisfied and stated that they would recommend both MC&I and the RIDGLOK® Panel System.
This RIDGLOK® Vertical Standing Seam Panel Insulation System was installed on a storage tank for ICL Performance Products located in Lawrence, KS. The welded tank measuring 32’ diameter x 22’ high was utilized to store Sulphur for a chemical agriculture facility.
The RIDGLOK® Insulated Panel System consisted of 0.024 stucco-embossed aluminum metal jacketing, in Mill, laminated to 1.5” polyisocyanurate insulation board and 1.5” of mineral wool with an R-value of 16.1, using a Gore roof system with an inner layer of Aerogel.
