MC&I designed, manufactured, and installed the RIDGLOK® Vertical Standing Seam Insulated Panel System on a fire protection ground storage tank, located in Carbondale, IL.
The fire protection storage tank was a 24.62′ diameter x 24.2′ in height, chimed bolted storage tank. The tank insulation project was completed in February 2012.
The RIDGLOK® Vertical Standing Seam Insulated Panel System consisted of 0.024 stucco-embossed aluminum metal jacketing, in Gray color, laminated to 3″ of polyisocyanurate insulation board on the shell and 2″ of polyisocyanurate insulation board on the roof. (R-value of 20.3 on the shell and 13.1 on the roof), using a straight panel roof system.
The RIDGLOK® Vertical Standing Seam Insulated Panel System is used for freeze protection in fire protection storage tanks. The insulation panels can be applied to all types of tanks, including flat bolted, chimed bolted, glass-lined, fiberglass, welded, stainless steel, and concrete. The storage tank does not need to be taken out of service to install the insulation system. Insulating fire protection storage tanks with a RIDGLOK® Vertical Standing Seam Insulated Panel System provides energy savings by reducing the amount of electricity needed to heat the storage tank contents.
